Required Documents for eVisa Application
All applicants for the India eVisa must provide the common required documents. Depending on the selected
eVisa type and travel purpose, additional documents will also be required.
Common Documents Required for All eVisa Types
The documents below are required for every India eVisa application, regardless of the eVisa type or
purpose of travel:
Passport Biopage Scan
- Submit a clear, uncropped scan of your passport bio page with all information visible,
including MRZ.
Applicant Photograph
- A recent digital photograph showing the applicant’s full face is required.
Additional Documents Required by eVisa Type
In addition to the common requirements, provide the following documents based on your selected eVisa type
and travel purpose:
For Transit eVisa
Confirmed Travel Ticket
A confirmed flight or travel booking is required, showing your entry to and exit from
India.
For Mountaineering eVisa
Clearance Letter from Indian Mountaineering Foundation
An IMF-issued approval letter confirming permission for your mountaineering or trekking
plans in India.
For Tourist eVisa
Based on your selected purpose of visit, submit the required Tourist eVisa documents listed below:
Selected Purpose: Voluntary Work for a Short Duration
Letter from the Inviting Organisation
A letter from the concerned organisation on its official letterhead confirming your
purpose of visit and other relevant details.
Selected Purpose: Short-Term Courses
Official Letter from Institution/Organisation/Hospital
Submit a valid letter from the relevant organisation on its letterhead confirming your
course details and admission in India.
For Production Investment eVisa
All purposes under the production investment eVisa share the same set of documents as follows:
Completed Employer Details Proforma
- A completed employer information proforma containing the applicant's current employer's
name and official company contact details.
Dispatch Letter from Current Employer
Sponsorship Letter from Inviting Company
- An official sponsorship letter from the host company supporting your visit to India.
For Medical eVisa
System-Generated Medical Invitation Letter
A medical invitation letter issued by the treating hospital or healthcare facility,
including the hospital details, applicant's details, proposed treatment, and the
authorised signatory.
For Ayush eVisa
System-Generated Medical Invitation Letter
An AYUSH treatment invitation letter issued by the treating AYUSH hospital or wellness
centre, including the applicant's details, proposed AYUSH treatment, and the authorised
signatory.
For Conference eVisa
Provide this set of requirements for the Conference eVisa application:
Invitation from the Organiser
- An invitation from the event organiser confirming the applicant's participation in an
event held in India is required.
MEA Political Clearance
- Submit a political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for the event.
Event Clearance from MHA
- Provide an event clearance issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for attending the
conference, seminar, or workshop.
For Business eVisa
The required additional documents depend on your selected purpose of visit for the India Business eVisa.

Purpose of Visit:

- Conducting tours
- Sale/Purchase/Trade
- Attend technical/business meetings
- Participation in exhibitions, business/trade fairs
- Expert/specialist in an ongoing project

For the purposes listed above, you must provide the following documents:
Copy of Business Card
- Provide a scanned copy of your business card with your professional details.
Business Invitation Letter
- Business invitation letter from an Indian company, organisation, or firm on official
letterhead, stating the purpose of the applicant’s visit to India.
Purpose of Visit: Sports-Related Activity
For sports-related activity visits, provide the following documents:
Approval from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports
- Submit an approval document from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of
India, for the applicant’s sports visit to India.
Invitation Letter from Sports Federation/Association in India
- Official invitation letter from the concerned Indian Sports Federation or Association for
the visit of foreign sports teams or sportspersons to India.
Purpose of Visit: To Join the Vessel
Provide the following documents if you're visiting India to join a vessel:
Sponsoring Letter from Shipping Agent
- A sponsorship letter issued by an Indian Shipping Agent or a Foreign Shipping Agent in
India, confirming support for the applicant’s vessel joining visit.
Seaman’s Continuous Discharge Certificate Copy
- A scanned copy of the Seaman’s valid Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) showing
the applicant’s name, CDC number, and nationality.
Purpose of Visit: To Deliver Lectures Under Global Initiative for Academic Networks
(GIAN)
Submit the following documents if visiting for the purpose mentioned above:
GIAN Sanction Order Copy
- A scan of the GIAN sanction order issued by the National Coordinating Institute, IIT
Kharagpur, confirming the applicant’s participation in the programme.
Invitation from the Host Institute to the Foreign Faculty
- Invitation letter issued by the host Indian institute to the foreign faculty member under
the GIAN programme, mentioning the course details, financial support, and programme
dates.
Faculty Course Synopsis Copy
- Faculty course synopsis containing the course title, outline, and details of the course
to be conducted by the faculty member.
For Entry eVisa
Submit the following documents depending on your selections while applying for an India Entry eVisa:
Copy of Voter ID card or Indian Passport of Parent/Spouse
- Scan of your parent’s or spouse’s Voter ID card or Indian Passport, showing
their name, photo, and Indian citizenship details.
Cancelled/Surrendered Indian Passport with Surrender Certificate
- Submit a cancelled or surrendered Indian passport with the surrender certificate for
applicants of Indian origin who surrendered their Indian passport in or after 2010.
Parent/Spouse OCI Card Copy
- Provide a scan of your parent’s or spouse’s OCI card, showing their name and
nationality clearly, for applicants holding a valid OCI card.
Birth/Marriage Certificate Copy
- Upload a scan of a birth or marriage certificate, as applicable, showing the
applicant’s name and the parent’s or spouse’s name.
For Student eVisa
The following documents are required for all purposes under the India Student eVisa:
Admission Letter from an Indian Educational Institution
- Submit an official admission letter from a recognised Indian educational institution
mentioning the course duration.
NOC from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
- Provide a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,
Government of India.
- Note: This document is required only for applicants joining a medical or
paramedical course.
For Film eVisa
Applicants applying for a Film eVisa must submit the following documents:
Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Clearance
A clearance letter issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting approving
the
proposed filming activities in India.

Film Shooting Intent Letter
A formal letter stating the intention to carry out film shooting in India.
The letter should include:
- Details of the production schedule, including cast and crew visiting India for
the shoot
- Proposed filming locations
- Details of any filming equipment being brought into India
- Any other relevant information related to the shoot
