Entry Requirements

Foreign nationals from specific countries can apply for a Tanzania eVisa for different approved purposes. However, travellers who are not eligible for an eVisa would either fall under a visa-free category or be required to apply for a regular visa (sticker visa) through a Tanzanian embassy or consulate.

Your required documents for theTanzania depends entirely on the specific type of visa you need for your trip. Each eVisa type requires a specific set of documents; failing to provide them may lead to application delays or rejections. 

Common Documents for all eVisa Types:

Passport Bio Page Scan

  • Upload a clear and coloured scan of your passport bio page.
  • The entire page should be visible, and the MRZ code must be easily readable. 
  • Damaged, cropped, or redacted passports are not accepted.

  • The photo should be recent, coloured and without any glare.
  • It should clearly reflect the current appearance of the applicant.

  • A confirmed return or onward travel ticket is required.

1. Transit eVisa- Additional Requirements

  • Application Letter: The document must mention the reason for transit, along with your departure date and final destination.

2. Tourism eVisa- Additional Requirements

No additional document is required for the Tanzania Tourism eVisa, except for the common documents (passport copy and applicant photo).

3. Business eVisa- Additional Requirements

The Tanzania Business eVisa can be applied for if your purpose of travel falls under any of the following categories:

  • A copy of the registration certificate or Certificate of Incorporation/Compliance Business Consultancy, Facilitating trade in services, Implementation of a technical and service contract, Managing a Limited Company, Technical activities with a registered private company or an institution

4. Ordinary eVisa- Additional Requirements

The Tanzania Ordinary eVisa is issued for the following purposes:

  • Exhibition and trade fairs organised by the government or private institutions
  • Family Visit
  • Health Treatment
  • Humanitarian and charity activities
  • Leisure holiday
  • Meetings and workshops
  • Visiting friends and relatives

Supporting documents required based on your purpose: 

  • Passport or National ID of a host citizen/Resident Permit for a Tanzanian resident (Family Visit, Health Treatment, Visiting friends and relatives)
  • Business Licence (Meetings and workshops)
  • Invitation Letter (Exhibition and trade fairs organised by the government or private institutions, Humanitarian and charity activities, Visiting friends and relatives)
  • Certificate of Registration (Humanitarian and charity activities)
  • Medical Report (Health Treatment)
  • Marriage Certificate for Spouse (Family Visit)
  • A copy of the Child’s birth certificate (Family Visit)

Points to note: 

For Leisure Holiday Purpose: No additional documents are required apart from the standard documents (a passport bio page scan and applicant photo). 

For Meetings and Workshops: “Other relevant documents” are also required to support your eVisa application to confirm your participation in meetings or workshops. This includes documents like the official event schedule, a nomination or participation letter, written communication from the organiser explaining the meeting details or an event agenda or program.

5. Multiple Entry eVisa- Additional Requirements

The Multiple-entry eVisa can be applied for the following purposes:

  • Serving as a director of a company registered in Tanzania
  • Regular family visits
  • Consultancy with registered companies, NGOs, and other institutions

How to Apply for a Tanzania eVisa

Step 1: Fill out the Tanzania eVisa application form and upload all the required documents. 

Step 2: Review your application for accuracy, pay the eVisa processing fee, and wait for eVisa approval.

Step 3: The approved eVisa will be sent to your email ID. Carry it along with you when travelling to Tanzania.

What payment methods can I use to pay for the Tanzania eVisa processing?

The payment can be made securely using a credit/ debit card or cryptocurrency. Cash payments are not accepted.

Expedited Processing Options for Tanzania eVisa

Applicants can select “Rush” or “Super Rush” processing options based on how urgently they need their eVisa. While the Rush processing (7 - 10 Working Days) speeds up the delivery time, Super Rush (5 - 7 Working Days) is the fastest eVisa processing available.

What if I do not need faster processing?

Applicants who have no urgent travel plans and are in no need of expedited processing can choose the Standard processing option (10 - 15 Working Days) that follows a standard timeline and adds no additional cost.

Tanzania eVisa Fee

The Tanzania eVisa fee varies by nationality, eVisa type and the processing option you select during the application process. Use the fee tool provided on top of the page, select your nationality, and the exact cost will be displayed on your screen based on the chosen eVisa type.

If you’re choosing an expedited processing option, an additional fee applies. For Rush Processing, there is an extra charge of $50, and for the Super Rush processing option, the additional fee is $99 extra.

Important: Tanzania eVisa fee is non-refundable once paid. Applicants must carefully review their application, and only then pay the eVisa fee.
