Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Jasmine Derwin, an Irish citizen currently living and working in Koh Samui, Thailand. I hold a valid Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit.
I am scheduled to travel to Ireland and the UK on the 20th of July and return to Thailand on the 9th of August. However, I am concerned about my passport’s validity — it is due to expire on the 4th of February 2026. This means that, upon my return to Thailand, it will have less than six months of validity remaining. I understand that Thai immigration typically requires at least six months’ validity for entry, and I am worried this may prevent me from re-entering the country.
Unfortunately, I do not have enough time to obtain a new Irish passport online before I return. I am therefore considering applying for an emergency passport while in Ireland. However, my current visa and work permit are in my existing passport. I am concerned that if I re-enter Thailand on a tourist visa using an emergency passport, it could affect the validity of my existing visa and work permit.
Would it be possible to transfer my Non-Immigrant B visa into a new passport at the Thai consulate in Ireland before I return to Thailand?
My employer is unable to assist with this issue, so I would greatly appreciate any guidance or assistance you can provide.
Thank you very much for your time and help.
Kind regards,
Jasmine Derwin
